Terms of use
Aldebaran Terms of Use
Last updated: September 2, 2026
These terms apply to the use of Aldebaran, the app distributed through the App Store for iPhone and iPad. Aldebaran is free and includes no purchases or advertising.
1. Scope and acceptance
Aldebaran is an application for organizing TV series, movies, and personal lists. These terms govern your use of the application and the features it makes available to you.
Aldebaran is intended for compatible iPhone and iPad devices running iOS or iPadOS 26 or later. By using the application, you confirm that you can accept these terms. If you disagree, do not use it.
2. Local use
You can use the local features of Aldebaran without connecting a Trakt account. The application stores your library, lists, and tracking state on the device, subject to system settings and available space.
You are responsible for securing your device and keeping any backups you consider necessary. Deleting the application, resetting the device, or erasing its data may remove information that has not yet been synchronized with an external service.
3. Optional integrations and third-party terms
Some features depend on services outside Aldebaran. Their availability and use are also governed by each provider's terms and policies:
- Apple: provides the operating system and system technologies, including iCloud sync, notifications, and on-device translation. See Apple Legal.
- TMDB: provides metadata, images, and availability by platform. See the TMDB Terms of Use.
- Trakt: provides title calendars and, if you choose to connect your account, Aldebaran can synchronize compatible lists and viewing activity. See the Trakt Terms of Use.
- Cloudflare: a technical function hosted on Cloudflare protects the catalogue credentials and handles the secure exchange needed to connect Trakt. See the Cloudflare terms.
TMDB notice: This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Aldebaran does not control these services. A provider may change, restrict, or withdraw its APIs, content, or features, which may affect the corresponding integration.
4. Metadata, images, and third-party rights
Titles, summaries, dates, images, identifiers, and other information about audiovisual works may come from third parties and belong to their respective rights holders. They are displayed for informational purposes and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect.
Using Aldebaran does not give you the right to copy, distribute, or exploit third-party content beyond what its owners and applicable rules allow. You are responsible for content or information that you add to the application manually.
5. Network, cache, and local-first synchronization
Aldebaran follows a local-first approach: changes are recorded on the device first, and the application can continue to provide local features when an integration is unavailable. Searching for new metadata, downloading images, connecting Trakt, or synchronizing with it requires a network connection.
Cached information may be older, and an interruption, provider rejection, or conflict between local and remote changes may delay or prevent synchronization. Aldebaran may retry, but it cannot guarantee that every change will be transferred or reconciled without error.
6. Responsible use
When using Aldebaran, you agree to:
- use the application and its integrations lawfully and respect third-party rights;
- meet the age, account, and usage requirements of any provider you connect;
- protect access to your device and external accounts; and
- not bypass security measures, interfere with the service, extract data abusively, or use the application to harm people or systems.
7. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains what data Aldebaran handles, where it is processed, and what happens when you enable optional integrations. External accounts and information received by those providers are also governed by their own policies.
8. Availability, changes, and withdrawal
Aldebaran's features, requirements, or integrations may change with new versions. The application or a particular feature may be paused or withdrawn for technical, security, legal, or third-party reasons.
Where reasonable, an important change will be communicated through available channels. Continuous availability and the continued operation of any specific integration are not guaranteed.
9. Warranties
To the extent allowed by applicable rules, Aldebaran is provided as available. There is no guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that all third-party data will be accurate, that a translation will be perfect, or that synchronization will always complete.
Nothing in this section limits warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Liability and consumer rights
You are responsible for reviewing information before acting on it and for protecting your data. Aldebaran is not responsible for failures attributable to the network, device, or third-party services and content, except where mandatory rules provide otherwise.
These terms do not exclude or limit liability for intentional misconduct, personal injury, or any other matter for which exclusion is prohibited. They also do not reduce any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated to reflect changes to Aldebaran, its integrations, or applicable requirements. This page will show the date of the latest version. If you do not accept a new version, you can stop using the application and disconnect optional integrations.
12. Contact
You can ask questions about these terms by writing to jcpdev2030@gmail.com or through the project's public GitHub Issues.
Do not post private data, credentials, tokens, screenshots containing personal information, or sensitive details in an Issue. That channel is public; use email for private matters.
